Dr. Robert L. Morris, Jr., has been in the ministry for more than 40 years. He retired as Senior Minister of Jacksonville’s First Presbyterian Church in the spring of 2018 after 18 years, having previously served Presbyterian churches in Gainesville and Washington, NC. Currently, he is a staff trainer for Young Life Florida.

A member of the board of the Salvation Army since 2005, Robert is an organizing board member of First Ministries, a nonprofit serving the poor and homeless in Jacksonville, and a former board member of Habitat for Humanity in both Jacksonville and North Carolina. He serves on the organizing committee and board of Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary of Jacksonville and has been active in Young Life throughout his career. He was honored by the city of Gainesville with the Omega Award for outstanding service to the community.

Robert earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and his M. Div. from Princeton Theological Seminary. A graduate of the University of South Florida and Terry Parker High School, he and his wife of more than 40 years, Virginia, are the parents of two adult sons.
