Peter Kaplan, Real Estate Development Chair

Peter Kaplan was Executive Vice President of ALLTEL Information services until his retirement in 2003. Prior to ALLTEL, Mr. Kaplan was a partner at the law firms of Holland & Knight and Weiner, McCaffrey Brodsky & Kaplan. He also served as Senior Vice President for Government Agency Relations at the Mortgage Bankers Association of America, and held various positions at the National Association of Home Builders and the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development.

A graduate of the University of Virginia and Georgetown University Law School, Mr. Kaplan is a lover of classical music and a former member of the boards of the National Symphony Orchestra and the Choral Arts Society of Washington. He is also a former member of the Fannie Mae Advisory Board and the National Selection Committee for Jefferson Scholars at the University of Virginia. Since retirement, he has spent considerable time volunteering at inner city schools in both Jacksonville and Washington, DC.

Peter has been married to Carol Dumas Kaplan, a proud Charlestonian, for 53 years. They have two children and four grandchildren.
