Artists are invited to propose two or four three-dimensional gateway signs. The project is open to artists at least 18 years old who have been practicing art for more than three years. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
1. Where exactly will the art be installed at the two intersections without impeding access to the infrastructure underground?
- The DIA is a partner with CDJ on this project, they will assist the process of permitting and specific site selection on the public right away at the two intersections.
- We anticipate the installations will be on public right of way.
- The artist can recommend the specific location and orientation in the proposal.
2. Does the artist need to be insured for this project?
- CDJ is insured for the project, continued insurance for maintenance is being developed with the city
3. Does the artist have to permit the project?
- Permitting application(s) will be made by the artist with assistance from CDJ and DIA.
4. How many sites total will have art?
- There are 3-location sites on our CDJ Master Development Plan (see website); all three will be developed over time and should relate to each other.
- Two sites will be installed depending on fabrication and installation costs during this round.
5. Will I have to sign away my copyrights or VARA rights?
- The artist will be required to waive their VARA rights and transfer title to the city, NOT their copyrights.
- All copies of the drawings, schematics, engravings, are bound as part of the title transfer and become property of the city.
6. Is a budget required with the proposal?
- Yes, the artists must submit a budget to include a contingency, installation rentals, and past experience managing subcontractors

7. How will the funds be paid out?
- A contract will be negotiated with the artist stating the pay-out based on benchmarks.
