Sydney A. Gervin, III

Cathedral District Chair

Before his retirement in 2017, Syd Gervin spent 45 years managing almost every aspect of real estate development, from identifying investment opportunities and sites to putting together development teams, obtaining financing and overseeing construction. Mr. Gervin got his start as a construction manager – and later, area manager and loan officer – for Jacksonville-based Stockton, Whatley and Davin, before going on to work with The Haskell Company, Unit Capital Corporation, and Southcoast Capital Corporation, where he served as Asset Manager for more than 27 years.
An economics graduate of the University of Virginia, Mr. Gervin is a Jacksonville native and a U.S. Navy veteran. He is a former president of the Duval County American Cancer Society, member of the Executive Committee for Episcopal High School in Virginia and president of the Jacksonville Alliance for KIPP Schools, and currently serves as chair of the Regional Selection Committee for Jefferson Scholarships for the University of Virginia. He and his wife, Deborah, have three grown sons and are members of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.
